If there was one thing that took advantage of everyone staying home during the COVID19 pandemic it would be the entertainment industry.
From streamers seeing insane growth to more people playing video games, the pandemic made everyone find new ways to entertain themselves. One area that really saw the benefits of this was streaming services as new episodes of popular tv series like Arcane and Tiger King became a trending event on social media.
Of all the shows that caught the attention of the internet, a little Korean show by the name of Squid Game became a complete phenomenon. But for the ten people that have been living under a rock for the last couple of months, you must be wondering “What’s Squid Game?” It was a Korean Netflix series that revolved around a contest where 456 players all in deep financial debt played deadly children’s games for a chance to win 45.6 billion won.
The show was an instant success, becoming Netflix’s most-watched series and the top viewed program in 94 countries. For the next month or two after its release, it was impossible to escape Squid Game.
With everyone and their grandparents getting into Squid Game, content creators looked to take advantage of the hype around the show and take part in any content that was vaguely related to Squid Game. This includes multiple games inspired by the mini-games played in the show made however possible like in Roblox. But one stand-alone game was able to stand out the most thanks to the creator behind the game. This is Crab Game.
